Houdini's Campaign Promises

Woof! I promise to to make Montclair Village more dog-friendly. My predecessors have done an admirable job in making our village very dog-friendly, but there is much more that could be done:

1) Hitching posts. One of the biggest deterrents to dogs is not being able to come to town with our guardians because we are not allowed in stores. We canines respect that humans, being the weaker species, are oft-times allergic to dogs. If there were hitching posts where our guardians could leash us to outside the stores, we would be able to accompany our companions as they shopped and socialized in the village. We do not believe it is safe to be leashed to parking meters or other objects by the curb. As mayor, I will have my human staff members negotiate with the city and shopkeepers to have sturdy metal hooks or rings installed.

2) Watering stations. We canines need fluids to stay healthy just as humans do yet there are virtually no places in the village for us to satisfy our thirst. As mayor, I will see to it that canines do not go thirsty during their village rounds.

3) Assistance dogs. Many human folks are unaware that assistance dogs are allowed under federal law to accompany their human companions wherever they go, just the same as for guide dogs for the visually impaired. As mayor, I will seek to educate Montclair Village merchants about this federal law, so that they don't run afoul of the law by mistakenly denying access to assistance dogs.

DogsOnBikes.com

Houdini is a Belgian Schipperke, who rides motorcycles, pilots waverunners, and flies ultralight aircraft. (there's a puzzle on one of these links, can you solve it?) He is the Pack Leader of the world's first motorcycle club for dogs, Biker Dogs MC, which sponsors an annual "Biker Dog Run" that meets in Montclair every year and raises money for Discovery Dogs, a non-profit that trains dogs to assist disabled people. He has been featured internationally on TV, in newspapers, magazines, and books.

Houdini is also the mascot for PetJetSet.Net, which advocates for the creation of a pet-friendly airline service which will provide in-cabin kennels so pets can fly with their human companions instead of in the deadly baggage compartment.
