Status: Success! We met in Montclair as planned and were greeted by a photographer from Thunderpress ("Rambler" Steve Austin), two journalists from Bark Magazine, award-winning photojournalist Frédéric Neema, professional videographer Roger Nyemaster, and our club photographer Kelly, all ready to document our event for pawsterity! A friend of ours from Red Nations MC also showed up to ride with us. Arf!

Keep in mind that this was our "rain-check" run. Originally, we had scheduled this run for May, 2006, but we had a lower than normal turnout back then due to 80% chance of rain on the appointed day of the run. Those of us who took our chances in May discovered the chance of rain quickly became 100% about half way to our desitnation!

However, for our August Biker Dog Run, the weather cooperated nicely. After run signup, donations (Discovery Dogs)and handing out run pins, we climbed uphill to Skyline Road riding along the ridge for several miles, with a birdseye view of the San Francisco bayscape to the west and Mt. Diablo to the east. One of the photographers rode backwards as a passenger shooting pics of our pack as we road along the winding roads.

We had our usual stop for the dogs at Inspiration Point, overlooking the Brionnes watershed and reservoirs, before heading inland down the backside of the eastbay ridge system. Soon we were cruzin' through horse ranch territory via Bear Creek Road which eventually led us into Alhambra Valley. As we approached Martinez city limits, we ducked into Franklin Canyon and a few miles later turned onto the road to Port Costa. Seemed like the dogs caught a whif of BBQ at that point even though we were still five miles from this tiny town on the Carquinez Strait.

As we pulled into town arriving at the Waterfront Cafe, we found the BBQ party in full swing with the band "Voltones" servin' up some delicious rock 'n' roll. This is a popular Sunday destination for bikers and the first time the Biker Dog Run came to town (during favorable weather). The folks at the BBQ just loved seeing all the biker dogs! Accompanied by Pack Leader Houdini, Jesse Lane (Pack Guardian) performed his "Biker Dog" song to the delight of the crowd.

Lots of cool photos to be posted soon!
