Dogs on Bikes
Spike, Deety, & Cash

Awesome Aussie Biker Dogs

Someone told me about your site, so I thought I'd tell you about our dogs. When you look at the pictures you'll see a longhaired dog(Spike), a chihuahua/fox terrier cross with a Honda and a short haired dog on a
BMW(Deety, a sortof Mini Fox Terrier) Spike is now 14YO and has been tavelling on the bike since about 4 months old, Deety is 7 and went to her first rally when 7 weeks old (travelled inside my wifes jacket, we both ride, no pillions here). Spike has been to about 120 rallies now and has been to every state of Australia on a bike or in a sidecar, we've had to hitchhike and fly home from halfway across the country once. He's been a passenger on the tanks of my Yam XJ900, SUz GSX1100EF, BMW K100RT, BMW R100GS, Yam TDM850, BMW K100 sidecar, triumph Trophy, R1100R, R1100GS and the Honda, so he's got the hang of this now. He has very good balance and though he can be shut into his modified tankbag, he only really needs a soft cover on the tank to hang on, I ride appropriately when he is along for the ride. Most of the pictures of Spike were taken last year on our trip to Ayers Rock, 7500km in 20 days with lots of rest breaks for the old pooch, him and Deety got attention at every stop. I included one extra "Tex and Cash", friends of ours Tex O'Grady used to hold the record time for a ride around Australia, For the last 2 years he has Cash a small Blue Heeler as passnger on his tank. Cash is firmly
attached to Tex's belt as he has a habit of jumping and chasing kangaroos.
